What are the responsibilities and job description for the Producer: C-SPAN Book Series Producer (Temporary) position at C-SPAN?

GENERAL FUNCTION:
In conjunction with the Library of Congress, produce a Fall 2025, 10-program special weekly television series. Create and deliver content for the corresponding website and across all our platforms which complement the programs. Responsible for executing the editorial content of each live and taped program including production and visual production elements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with Senior Executive Producer to develop programs.
- Researches, plans and produces a weekly program on selected program topics.
- Develops briefing material for program's host.
- Works with guests, C-SPAN and LOC to prep travel and other logistics.
- Line produces live and taped programs.
- Works with the Production Manager and Director to ensure successful productions, including remote sets, backgrounds and elements.
- Identifies, produces and helps manage the content on the series' website.
- Acts as a liaison to other C-SPAN departments so they are fully briefed on this series.
- Represents C-SPAN to the media when needed to discuss this series.
- Works with the Library of Congress staff and advisors and partners to gather their input on the series content.
- Other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND/SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
- Minimum of four years related experience required.
- Background or strong interest in nonfiction books, history, historic literature and public affairs.
- Previous TV or digital media experience, including familiarity with line producing and on-line editing.
- Excellent research, writing, verbal and organizational skills.
- Ability to be creative and innovative.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines under a flexible schedule.
- Ability to interact effectively with the team and other departments to facilitate a successful series.
- Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Must possess valid driver's license and have the ability to drive vehicles in accordance with C-SPAN operation guidelines.
Salary : $70,000 - $79,900
