Job Title: Outside Sales & Merchandising Representative

Primary Function: To service & maintain customer relations and continually strive to increase sales and the number of accounts within the given territory.

Education: High school or equivalent

Experience: Previous work experience in outside sales preferred

Skills and Abilities: Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and to also perform within a team concept; Good communication and organization skills; Must maintain strict attention to detail; Good customer service skills; Strong selling abilities; Must be dedicated to maintaining a strong work ethic and maintaining a good work attendance record

Machines, Tools, and Equipment Used: hand-held computer & printer system, pricing gun, calculator and copier

Position Reports To: Sales Manager

Duties and Responsibilities: (Position Requirements)

  • Workday hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday- Workday hours start when the sales rep arrives at their first customer for the day and ends when they finish at their last customer for the day. (Sales & merchandising reps may work extended hours or extra days to increase their income, this is left up to the individual)
  • To provide superior customer service and maintain a good relationship with existing customers within the given territory
  • Minimum of 15 existing account sales calls per day
  • Minimum of 15 cold calls per week (prospects)
  • Maintain existing customers relations and sales while opening new accounts, placing new programs in existing customer’s stores and increasing sales in given territory
  • Maintain call sheet and track their monthly sales
  • Organize invoices and money on their delivery days. Sales Reps are responsible for the receivables from their deliveries and must turn in the exact amount of the total receivables for the day. Paperwork and money must be completely ready to turn in when they arrive at the office at 7:30 am
  • Service each customer within the given territory every 4 weeks (Some customers may need to be serviced more often)
  • Maintain customer route list and record notes for each customer-
  • Communicate to the sales manager any changes needed to the customer’s profile and route list
  • Enter customer orders in hand-held computer and transmit to company office
  • Manage customers’ inventory levels for the programs they carry from C-Store Supply. Sales reps should NOT overstock or stuff the customer’s display racks
  • Deliver orders to customers once orders are pulled and packed in the company warehouse
  • Merchandise and maintain cleanliness of display fixtures and products in stores; straighten products on displays, dust, repair packaging, change out signs when needed, etc.
  • Keep returns under 2%
  • Present and sell existing customers and prospects on new product programs. Set up new display programs in customers’ stores and merchandise the products
  • Sales Reps are required to call the sales manager each morning before they leave their house and before they leave their last customer for the day
  • Sales reps are expected to communicate with the sales manager and must call the sales manager at least 3 times daily. Sales reps are expected to call sales manager when receiving rejection from customers or potential customers. Good communication is required.
  • Observe changes, product ideas, trends, competitors pricing or any problems within the marketplace and report to sales manager and/or marketing department
  • Maintain all supplies need to service accounts
  • Maintain cleanliness of company van and report any maintenance issues needed to sales manager
  • Must follow all policies and procedures stated in the Sale Employee Manual and set forth by C-Store Supply
  • Assist in specific projects as needed

Salary : $42,000 - $60,000
