C&T Enterprises, Inc., will receive letters of interest for a Part-time Member Service Representative position at Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative (REC).

Location: This position will be based at the Claverack REC headquarters in Wysox, PA.

Reporting Structure: This position will report to the Member Services Supervisor at Claverack REC.

Primary Function: The primary responsibilities of this role include providing prompt and courteous service to members, customers, and the public both by phone and in person. You will balance daily accounts receivable and post payments to member and customer accounts. Additionally, you will make membership changes, process agency payments, and review payment arrangements. Other office functions include transferring calls, welcoming visitors, and creating service orders as necessary. You will also offer general assistance to the Member Services Supervisor and other staff as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred
  • One year of professional customer service experience
  • Accuracy with making change, balancing the cash drawer, and preparing bank deposits
  • Possessing or ability to obtain a notary license is preferred
  • Familiarity with the Public Utility Commission (PUC) regulations and cooperative practices regarding payments, collections and disconnects, outage reporting procedures, energy assistance, and delinquent member relations
  • Knowledge of the Cooperative's policies and application of rates and format for business correspondence
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to quickly learn industry-specific software functionality
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and proficiency with numerical data
  • Effective analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple duties and priorities effectively
  • Respect for a diverse workforce and internal/external constituents
  • Commitment, responsibility, trustworthiness, and integrity
  • Must be willing to obtain CPNI training and certification

Responsibilities:

As the Member Services Representative, the candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing receptionist duties in a professional, courteous manner
  • Answering all incoming calls and transferring them to the proper personnel; responding to outage calls and inputting information into the outage management system
  • Scheduling home fiber internet installations for new communications customers and ensuring PCI compliance for all customers
  • Handling broadband/communications trouble calls and related issues, assisting customers or routing the call to the appropriate employee or vendor for resolution
  • Participating in and assisting with open houses or other promotional and educational events; assisting cooperative personnel in educational or safety presentations
  • Receiving and opening incoming daily mail; sorting and distributing to appropriate personnel
  • Processing member payments daily; receiving, opening, and properly recording all payments mailed or submitted using applicable equipment; reconciling all payments; preparing bank deposits and monitoring accounts daily
  • Performing LIHEAP cash/crisis submissions, membership changes, capital credit refund communication, agency payment review, and specific reporting on debt write-offs and Penn Lines mailing lists; reviewing and following up on contract tracking notes, account updates, and member questions and concerns by email, website, or other social media
  • Preparing, coordinating, monitoring, and reconciling delinquent accounts; making final decisions on payment plans/agreements with members; monitoring payment arrangements and taking required action as needed; verbally communicating with members and outside agencies regarding payments due and assistance opportunities
  • Answering questions and processing requests of members calling or coming into the office, particularly regarding collections, payment arrangements, disconnects/reconnects for non-payment, and miscellaneous work orders; providing answers to high bill concerns, rates, and Cooperative service programs; assisting members with bill adjustments and various billing/payment options and programs
  • Opening and closing the office, including the dropbox safe and front door; transferring phones to and from the dispatch center
  • Preparing, copying, and assembling letters, reports, and other documents; performing other duties as requested or required by the Member Services Supervisor
  • Communicating and providing services to members and customers regarding electricity, internet, phone, and other services offered by the cooperative and/or its subsidiaries
  • Communicating and providing services to the dispatch center, the post office, applicable banks and financial institutions, businesses, schools, and other agencies and organizations
  • Performing other related work as assigned

Special Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work at all hours during emergencies such as prolonged outages. Occasional overnight travel may also be required.
