JOB TITLE : INVENTORY TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY

Manage Inventory through use of an Inventory Management System. This includes parts research, ordering, receiving, issuing and overall reconciliation of physical inventory to book figures. Maintain level of inventory necessary for each part. Assist in revenue processing and accounts payable.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Individuals in this classification are expected to possess knowledge of total inventory control procedures sufficient to perform the assignment. Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of an Inventory Management System. Responsible for ensuring that assigned work performed is accurate and thorough. Responsible for the support of Fleet, Facilities, and office supply parts needs in a timely and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following summarizes the essential or key responsibilities / attributes of the position the incumbent will be required to perform with or without reasonable accommodation :

Maintain liaison with manufacturer representatives and vendors.

Manage workload to ensure availability of proper equipment and materials.

Maintain all aspects of an electronic Inventory Management System.

Annually reconcile the physical inventory to book figures.

Read and understand paper and electronic parts manuals. Maintain a listing of acceptable vendors for inventoried items in accordance with related standards and specifications.

Prepare and document bid specifications for purchase of materials including quantity, qualified vendors, vendor parts numbers, etc. within FTA procurement guidelines. Determine most economical supplier.

Assist in vehicle history record by opening, maintaining, and closing work orders.

Return parts to vendors as required.

Prepare and process outgoing shipments.

Move parts from one location to another.

Maintain and track fuel and fluid inventories. Verify dispensing quantities and vehicle mileage. Run reports and perform reconciliations as required.

Regularly and independently, prepare, and place purchase requisitions. Receive, control, and issue parts, supplies, tools, oil, and fuel.

Create, process, communicate and reconcile warranty issues with vendors

Research and coordinate placement of orders, delivery time, and related factors as required.

Verify packing slips and other documents.

Audit vendor invoices and work with Finance to insure all necessary paperwork is properly completed and ready in a timely manner for payment.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

Assist Inventory Supervisor in in all aspects of inventory management.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Requires knowledge to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility as illustrated above.

Requires knowledge and experience in inventory control procedures.

Computer experience in spreadsheets, databases, email and word are required.

Knowledge in automotive or truck, and facilities repair maintenance.

Requires ability to prepare reports, budget, correspondence, and other assignments as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to perform continuous physical effort including frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, kneeling, stair climbing, twisting, manipulation, lifting and carrying of shop equipment and materials.

Must be able to hear warning horns when vehicles are in motion.

Responsibilities of position may result in exposure to environmental influences (beyond normal office environment) such as poor ventilation and illumination, loud noises, adverse weather conditions, congestion, and accidents or health hazards on the job which includes working with chemicals and operating equipment / machinery.

Must be able to be forklift certified.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Regular, dependable attendance is required.

A valid driver's license from state of residence and a good driving record are preferred.

Must be able to comply with C-TRAN's nonsmoking policy and function in a nonsmoking work environment.

Must maintain a physical condition, which, either with or without accommodation, allows completion of all essential duties.

If selected for the position, documentation that you are a United States citizen or an alien lawfully authorized to work in the United States will be required to establish your identity and work authorization in accordance with the employer's obligation under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

This position is covered under the provisions of an agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union, 1432, District 24.

If selected for this position, employment will be conditional pending completion of a criminal background investigation.
