Position Summary

This position is responsible for doing any Production Engineering work required. This is a lower to mid-level position. This individual will be responsible for getting Production Engineering projects out to the shop floor on a timely basis as well as working as a liaison between manufacturing, purchasing, and sales. This person will also be responsible for individual special projects. This individual must be a quality-minded person that will be responsible for creating quality products. This individual must have a basic understanding of structure design. Having knowledge of welding design and processes is a must. This individual must be able to demonstrate an advanced knowledge of SolidWorks. Knowledge of SolidWorks sheet metal design is a must. Having a SolidWorks CAD Design Expert (CSWE) certification is a plus.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma required. Certification of AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred.

Licenses and Certifications: N/A

Experience: Mechanical Engineering design experience preferred; knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred; knowledge of ERP and bills of materials work is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must be flexible, dependable, and have the ability and willingness to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to adhere to safety rules and procedures and safety minded.
  • Ability to learn to do welded designs and have a good understanding of welding processes preferred.
  • Must have good math skills.

  • Must pass drug test and physical.

Work Environment

The Design Engineer will work primarily in an indoor office environment, and occasionally in a manufacturing facility subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, with exposure to occasional temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees. The noise level in the environment may be moderate to loud. Will also be required to travel occasionally.

Requirements:

Essential Duties

Essential Duties:

Plans mechanical drawings by reviewing sketches, descriptions, specifications, and supporting documents, conferring with engineers and designers.

Prepares mechanical sketches and drawings by rendering sectional, auxiliary, and multi-views, sub-assemblies, pictorials, dimensions, and developments; producing two- and three-dimensional orthographic projections using computer aided design (AutoCAD/DraftSight & SolidWorks) and pictorial techniques; producing three-dimensional (3-D) models.

Reviews RFQ specifications, drawings, floor plans to determine scope of work and required contents of the quote.

Visits project sites to understand the environment, constraints and take necessary measurements.

Develops and receives quotes from vendors and subcontractors.

Creates the quote by preparing Bill of Materials and labor cost estimates.

Provides detailed, accurate & complete quotations to customers.

Prepares supporting information by developing bills of materials and drawings.

Modifies drawings by analyzing, resolving, and incorporating changes.

Documents work by recording data and drawings, updating databases.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
