At C. Winchell Agency, Inc., we are seeking an experienced Workers Compensation Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting department, you will play a crucial role in managing and growing a profitable book of business based on eligibility review of loss analysis, exposure analysis, hazard group, and reinsurance acceptability.
About the Role:
- Review Due Diligence reports, Loss control surveys, loss runs, timeliness of premium payments, and take appropriate action when necessary.
- Collaborate with specialists such as premium auditors, claims adjusters, and loss control engineers for risk assessment.
- Manage and delegate on a regular basis the activities of underwriting assistants including reaction time to compliance issues and requests from internal departments such as claims, loss control, SIU, Policy Issuance, and IT as well as external requests from Brokers and Policyholders.
- Present accounts to management for underwriting approval accompanied by the appropriate underwriting data and recommendations.
Requirements:
- Three years industry experience with a capacity for the underwriting and production of primary casualty accounts.
- A working knowledge of large account rating programs including retrospective rating and large deductibles.
- People management skills are a must.
- College Degree or equivalent experience.
- Industry designations, such as CPCU or ARM, are encouraged.
- Proficiency in Internet software and Microsoft Products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong knowledge of casualty coverages.
- Strong knowledge of rating programs.
