WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR When a patient comes in for a diagnostic test, they are often nervous and unsure of what is going to happen. They are looking to be reassured and handled with care and respect. They are also trusting that the technologist running the test is highly competent and accurate. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT CURRENT CLINIC HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm Provide a safe procedural environment by recognizing and responding to life-threatening situations. Recognize, document and report critical tests results to the designated interpreting physician. Document pertinent patient medical history, including current medications and circumstances surrounding reported symptoms. Customize the recording procedure appropriately as per referral evaluation, patient history or observed EEG waveforms. Differentiate artifacts from cerebral or peripheral nerve responses and troubleshoot possible causes, documenting steps taken to alleviate such artifacts. Disinfect testing room, equipment, and supplies in accordance with departmental/facility infection control policies. Ensure procedures are appropriately logged, charged and distributed to the interpreting physician. Identify and monitor opportunities for performance improvement of services. Determine any contraindications to testing or monitoring protocols based on patient history or physician orders. Conduct EEG, and other neurodiagnostic testing, appropriate to the patient's age and according to departmental policies and procedures. Participants in on-call rotation to provide off shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, as required. WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED Prior Neuro diagnostics (EEG/sleep) and/or healthcare experience. Basic math skills, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Knowledge of all aspects of Basic Life Support (BLS) emergency care. Adapt to multiple clinical settings. Basic understanding of computer software, hardware, and communication devices to perform tasks. Knowledge base to maintain END equipment and to take appropriate actions to ensure electrical safety. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing patient needs, meeting quality standards for services and patient satisfaction. Develop effective relationships with patients, hospital departments, and other external parties. Recognize clinical and non-convulsive seizure patterns. Recognize normal and abnormal awake and asleep patterns for each age range. Critically evaluate and analyze information. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Follow directions as communicated in a variety of ways. Patient Handling skills. Understanding of common medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Associate's Degree Required High School Diploma/GED 1 year Successful completion of ECG Course within 12 months Required 1 year Successful completion of an Industry online training academy within 12 months of employment which includes: cardiac physiology, disease and rhythms; pacing therapy; ICD therapy; cardiac resynchronization therapy, syncope and cardiac monitors and temporary pacemakers.
