Our Patient Care Novices work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to assist in providing high quality patient care. This is an excellent opportunity to learn hands-on care and gain experience recognizing signs and symptoms and how to respond. If you can observe and turn instruction into compassionate, quality care, this is the job for you. Are you enrolled in or a recent graduate of a school of nursing? Are you excited to interact with patients and have meaningful contributions to their healthcare? Can you accurately follow directions? WHAT YOU WILL DO Under the direction and supervision of the RN, perform patient care activities as needed of the patient population(s) served in the unit/department. Contribute to patient care in a safe environment as well as maintaining equipment, supplies, and stock in a safe and efficient manner. Communicate effectively data and significant patient information to the attention of the RN. Document data collected during the provision of patient care in a timely manner. Under the direction and supervision of the RN, perform patient care activities as needed of the patient population(s) served in the unit/department. WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED Assume responsibility for learning and growth. Utilize time productively. Demonstrate flexibility in staffing and adaptability to changes in patient care practice. Exercise safe judgement in decision making. Demonstrate tact and understanding when dealing with others. Respond in a positive manner to constructive criticism. Assist with the orientation of new staff. Qualifications Required Enrolled in program None Must have successfully completed one full rotation (semester, quarter, etc.) of nursing clinicals through a fully accredited school of nursing. Must be in good standing in their program. Required None having participated in the Franciscan Alliance or local Division’s established Student Nurse Extern/Student Nurse Intern program.
