WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Assist in transferring, lifting and positioning patients, utilizing proper body mechanics. Assists in clean-up of surgical environment after a procedure, ensuring the operating room is cleaned and set up for turnover to the next procedure. Prepares for surgical procedures by obtaining appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment and appropriate records for specific surgical procedures; opens surgical supplies/equipment, cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization process and restocks pre-operative carts. Transport patients to and from Surgical Services. Transport specimens to and from various departments in a timely manner. Operate and clean the autoclave; perform daily and weekly biological testing of autoclave units and check high level disinfection units; change chart paper as necessary. Assist the Surgical Team with ancillary patient care duties as directed by the Patient Care Coordinator/RN. Assemble charts for newly admitted patients and maintain charts on a daily basis by checking charts and labeling needed chart forms. This is a Day shift position. Shift times are from 7:00am-6:00pm.
