Job Responsibilities: 35%- Installs, repairs, inspects HVAC equipment and systems. This includes work on chillers, cooling towers, DX units, window units, ice machines, hot/cold rooms, motors, controls, etc. All sizes and types of HVAC systems. When working on equipment, ensures there is no unauthorized gas releases into the atmosphere. Makes installations, tests, and repairs in accordance with E.P.A. and other applicable regulatory guidelines. 25% - Recharges air conditioning systems with refrigerants as necessary. Reset air conditioning and refrigeration system and check for proper operation after power failure. Adjusts and calibrates pneumatic and electronics controls. 15% - Overhauls compressors, condensers and other equipment as needed. Diagnose and repair equipment problems pertaining to air conditioning, heating and refrigeration. Uses proper tools and electrical meter. 10% - Coordinates repairs and inspections with Energy Management Operator for proper shutdown and start up of air conditioning systems throughout campus. 10% - Supervises and instructs mechanics of lower grade. Brief supervisor of any problems that may affect proper operation of equipment 5% - Maintain work area and job site in clean and orderly manner and performs miscellaneous and related duties as required. Additional Job Description Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and three years trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A valid driver's license. Some positions require a commercial driver's license. Some positions require EPA-approved freon recovery certification.
