Clinical Engineer II

Franciscan Health Munster Campus 701 Superior Ave Munster, Indiana 46321 The Clinical Engineer II performs maintenance and repairs as necessary on any general medical equipment as well as having the knowledge and ability to support at least six specialty areas or devices. The Clinical Engineer II inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates and verifies the performance of the assigned clinical equipment and systems in accordance with clinical engineering policies and processes with occasional direction as necessary, to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the Medical Equipment Management Program. This position provides education, assistance, and guidance to less experienced members of the Clinical Engineering team and will often serve as a key technical resource in the absence of the Clinical Engineering Manager. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm Participate in ensuring the success and positive reputation of the Clinical Engineering department by willingly and competently performing any necessary service functions and/or related administrative activities. Document equipment information and service activities within the medical equipment database to assure timely, accurate and complete service documentation and inventory management. Communicate with clinical care providers regarding the status of any equipment service activities, adjusting activities when necessary to accommodate patient care schedules, while still assuring regulatory compliance. Deliver high quality and cost-effective results by performing medical equipment service and providing technical support across a wide range of device types and in multiple clinical care areas, following the organizational policies and procedures. Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to the department budget by using good judgment to plan and prioritize activities and by considering a variety of different service strategies to assure the highest possible level of efficiency and cost-effectiveness for all services provided. Demonstrate self-accountability for completion of own assigned service activities with only occasional need for managerial oversight. Participate in relevant technical and professional training or related activities to stay informed about changes in healthcare technology, regulatory requirements and other external factors that may affect the activities of the Clinical Engineering department. Take action to appropriately respond to any customer concerns, patient incidents, recalls, regulatory findings or other urgent situations that may arise within the daily activities of the Clinical Engineering team. Take responsibility for identifying opportunities for improvement and making recommendations for positive changes in processes to improve the quality of service or contribute to positive patient or organizational outcomes. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field required 4 years of relevant progressive service experience as a Clinical Engineer I or similar role required A Certified Professional (A CERT) or related certification required within 24 months of hire Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CHTM), OR Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) required TRAVEL IS REQUIRED: Never or Rarely EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER It is the policy of Franciscan Alliance to provide equal employment to its employees and qualified applicants for employment as otherwise required by an applicable local, state or Federal law.
