In this role, you will oversee the management of strategic initiatives, including capital expenditure (Capex) processes, budgeting cycles, margin improvement efforts, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) activities. This leadership role requires strong financial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive operational efficiencies across multiple business units. The Director will also act as a key liaison between business units and corporate functions, ensuring that key business objectives are achieved through effective resource allocation and strategic support. A “Day in the Life" of a Director, Area Business Operations Develop and maintain Capex budget templates and guidelines, facilitate the Capex budgeting process across business units, review and provide feedback on submissions, identify cost optimization opportunities, and ensure accurate and complete final submission of the Capex budget into the system. Establish and maintain Capex request forms and processes, collaborate with Fleet and Directors of Operations to identify savings and reallocate funds, assist BUs with sourcing and justification development, evaluate Capex requests for eligibility and ROI, and track all Capex projects to ensure timely execution and accurate reporting. Oversee the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with growth targets and organizational goals, develop and maintain budget templates, collaborate with BUs and the refinery team to align deliverables, review and adjust initial submissions, lead final budget reviews with senior leadership, and provide ongoing support, including creating executive reports on budget performance. Act as a liaison between Operations, Fleet, and Corporate Procurement, ensuring alignment on procurement needs and processes. Coordinate sourcing, vendor negotiations, and purchasing activities, while supporting the timely acquisition of equipment and materials to meet operational requirements. Provide hands-on support to RVP’s and AVP’s for business units struggling to meet BU Scorecard metrics, conducting site visits to identify areas for improvement, developing action plans, and offering training and resources to address challenges and enhance operational performance. Analyze financial data to identify revenue leakage and margin improvement opportunities, assist BUs with P&L performance, and develop strategies to increase profitability. Lead P&L reviews, optimize capital utilization, communicate corporate pricing agreements, and identify new pricing strategies to protect and improve margins. Lead M&A activities, including initial business reviews, NDA management, and communication with potential acquisition targets, while collaborating with Corporate Development and legal teams to assess opportunities, manage due diligence, and support integration and divestiture processes. Provide ongoing assistance during transactions, addressing live due diligence questions to ensure smooth outcomes. Serve as the primary liaison for fixed asset management, legal, insurance, and real estate matters, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to address operational and financial needs across multiple functions.
