Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant – Trauma Surgery, UMass We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our busy Level 1 trauma service. This is a part-time position, working 24 hours per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and rotating weekends and holidays. Shifts are 12 hours each. Major Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive care for trauma patients in collaboration with the trauma surgery team. Perform diagnostic evaluations, surgical assistance, and trauma care management. Independently manage trauma cases in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Coordinate post-trauma follow-up care and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team. Document patient outcomes to assess care effectiveness. Participates in department driven practices including on call scheduling, rotating weekends, etc. Provides trauma education to other caregivers. Maintains competencies as directed by the division. Position Requirements: Must meet American College of Surgeons standards for APPs on a Level 1 trauma service. ATLS certification required within one year of hire. Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited NP or PA program with board certification. Massachusetts Medical license. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) & Basic Life Support (BLS). Preferred Experience: Prefer 1-3 years of clinical experience. Surgical and trauma experience required. Ability to work independently in high-stress situations.
