C5T is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to assume a key leadership position within a large team supporting mission-critical capabilities for our clients. This team is responsible for providing Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) support, IT security, administration, and expertise for the Global Transportation Planning (GTP), Groups Operational Passenger (GOPAX), and Voyage Calculator (VC) systems. The primary customer for this program is the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), with headquarters located on Scott AFB.
The successful candidate will leverage their strong leadership and communication skills, along with extensive knowledge and experience in database design, development, security, backup, performance optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of the systems across multiple environments to drive team success.
This position is onsite at Scott AFB, IL.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Administer and maintain databases including MySQL, MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle DBMS in development, QA, and production environments
- Install, configure, and manage database systems on Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, and Amazon Linux platforms
- Ensure system security by applying Risk Management Framework (RMF) principles and using Nessus/ACAS, webInspect, and HBSS/SELinux for vulnerability mitigation and remediation.
- Configure and deploy cloud-based database solutions using Cloud Foundry, Docker, AWS, and VMware to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Utilize Chef, SaltStack, CloudFormation, and Terraform for automated database provisioning, management, and deployment.
- Support web application and database integration with Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat Server, and Microsoft IIS.
- Monitor database performance and security
- Collaborate with developers to implement database changes, troubleshoot database-related issues, and optimize performance
- Plan database capacity: processing capacity, storage capacity and back-up capacity
- Monitor and manage database backups and restorations
- Assist project teams and application programmers to install and tune their database related queries/interactions.
- Provide guidance to development teams on effective use of database features, monitoring and optimizing database performance and use of resources, including selecting optimal physical implementations of databases
- Provide quality review and testing of SQL scripts and provide feedback to author(s)
- Provide occasional after-hours and weekend support (Participates in on call rotation).
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology, cybersecurity, data science, information systems, computer science, or another related field. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
- Required Certifications: Cloud , or SSCP, or Security , or GSEC.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in complex data systems design, programming, and related software & support.
- Experience with Global Transportation Planning (GTP) and Groups Operational Passenger (GOPAX) Systems highly desired.
- Work experience in data systems design, programming, and systems support
- Technical knowledge with optimizing queries/code across large data sets.
- Specific knowledge of secure coding and software development lifecycle practices.
- Experience with development teams and performance tuning databases.
- Experience with Cloud computing environments
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Experience with the following tools/technologies:
- Confluence

- Flyway Enterprise Edition
- MariaDB Database
- MySQL Database
- SQL Server Database
- SQL
- AWS Services: Relational Database Service (RDS), Elasticache

- Soft Skills Required:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Having a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude, with the ability to navigate and resolve complex challenges effectively
- Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret-level Security Clearance, granted by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required for this position.

Salary : $110,000 - $130,000
