Under the direction of the Conservation Supervisor, the Fish Habitat Assistant perform the following duties:

  • Coordinate CCC crew activities with CDFW Regional fisheries personnel, other government agencies, private organizations, and watershed groups for developing fish habitat improvements.

  • Implement currently funded projects such as installing instream structures, riparian planting, and barrier removal projects.

  • Conduct frequent inspections of CCC work projects to ensure quality control at each work site.

  • Assist in the development of implementation projects and seeking grant funding for fish habitat improvement projects.

  • Assist in developing collaborative partnerships with landowners and local watershed restoration groups to accomplish fisheries restoration work.

Working Conditions

This position will report to the Fortuna Center loacted at 1500 Alamar Way, Fortuna, CA 95540.


In Office
– This position is classified as “In Office” and is not eligible for telework.

The person selected for this position will report to the Fortuna CCC Center. The center is located in rural Northern California in a small city just south of the Humboldt County seat: Eureka, CA. There will be a mix of office work and field work. The project range within the Fortuna Center service area is from the Oregon border south to northern Mendocino County, and from the Pacific Ocean East halfway to Redding. Project work is year-round and located in a variety of environments including beach front, gorgeous redwood forests, mountain trails, rural creeks, and State and National parks; locations that people from all over the world travel to see. Much of the outdoor work will be in inclement weather and/or arduous terrain.

Career Consultation

California Conservation Corps is excited to take part in the first agency-wide collaborative physical career center. The career center is located in the heart of Downtown Sacramento in the brand new CNRA headquarters building. Services provided include one-on-one career consultations, application/resume review, career guidance, mock interviews, and tips for applying.
