Job Description And Duties
The Office of Legal Affairs (OLA), Employment Advocacy and Prosecution Team (EAPT) assists in investigations into employee misconduct, advises on disciplinary decisions, and pursues disciplinary actions on behalf of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). In addition, EAPT litigates appeals to the State Personnel Board (SPB), requests to file charges with the SPB, or whistleblower complaints before the SPB, and defending or prosecuting petitions for writs of administrative mandamus before the superior and appellate courts.
Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I, EAPT, Legal Support Unit, the Case Closure Analyst is responsible for independently closing employee discipline case files and maintaining data confidentiality and integrity. The incumbent will review case files, ensure all documents required for case closure are organized, labeled, and saved in hardcopy and electronic format. Will ensure the legal database (e.g., ProLaw) is complete with subject files for each case. The Case Closure Analyst will also act as back-up support to the Discipline Verification Analyst which entails conducting research and responding to employee discipline verification requests. The Case Closure Analyst is also responsible for conducting research and responding to document preservation notice(s) on employee discipline files. EAPT works with highly sensitive and confidential information and requires employees to maintain strict confidentiality.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
