Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Curriculum Writer to update and enhance current high school curriculum guides in compliance with honors-level course legislation. This role focuses on incorporating components of Differentiation, Acceleration, Enrichment, Extension, and Depth and Complexity to align with state and district standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with key stakeholders and ensure the curriculum meets the needs of diverse learners, including gifted and advanced students.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze existing high school curriculum guides for alignment with honors legislation and best practices.
- Develop and incorporate strategies and content focused on:
- Differentiation to address diverse learning needs.
- Acceleration to support advanced pacing and depth of learning.
- Enrichment activities to enhance the curriculum with meaningful, real-world applications.
- Extension opportunities to push learning beyond the standard curriculum.
- Depth and Complexity frameworks to encourage critical thinking and analysis.
- Ensure the curriculum additions comply with honors-level expectations and district guidelines.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists, teachers, and administrators to gather feedback and ensure the content’s relevance and rigor.
- Submit all updated materials by project deadlines.
Qualifications:
- High School teaching license OR AIG licensure (required).
- Strong understanding of honors-level curriculum standards and strategies for gifted and advanced learners.
- Proven experience in curriculum development and writing, particularly for secondary education.
- Knowledge of differentiation, acceleration, enrichment, extension, and depth and complexity principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
Contract Details:
- Duration: December to May
- Total Hours: Approximately 75 hours, with flexibility to accommodate individual schedules.
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience and district guidelines.
