General Definition of Work
Under the direction of the Instructional Designer at Cabarrus Virtual Academy, the Principal, and Assistant Principal, the online teacher will guide student learning using Cabarrus Virtual courses that have already been developed. This is a temporary part-time staff position. Work will be completed remotely over the course of the semester. Individuals hired will be eligible and considered for future contracts with Cabarrus Virtual Academy.

Essential Functions
- Create weekly communication to students introducing course work, providing group feedback, and complementing course work to support student learning..
- Assess student learning and provide personalized and sustaining feedback and coaching for students coursework daily
- Provide modifications to course work and complement course when necessary for students
- Offer at least one hour of weekly office hours for students outside the traditional school day Develop relationships with students, parents and school personnel though regular communication
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience using the learning management system Canvas, Google, Microsoft and other software
- Ability to communicate with students, parents and school staff through email
- Ability to develop culture and relationships online through communication and personalized feedback
- Ability to effectively interact with principals and other team members.
- Ability to provide coaching and feedback to disciplinary inquiry for all students
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects, plan starting and ending deadlines, and successfully bring closure to projects.
- Excellent record keeping and reporting skills. Maintain professional attitude and communicate professionally with all stakeholders
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- NC certified in subject area Proficient in Canvas
Physical Requirements
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
- Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.
- Work has standard vision requirements.
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.
- Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
- NC Teacher Certification or have qualifications to obtain a NC teacher certifications
