What are the responsibilities and job description for the NUTRITION SITE COORDINATOR (PART-TIME) position at Cabarrus County?

Hiring range for this position is $16.86- $20.16 per hour. Initial placement for new employees is customarily at entry level through 35% percentile. Pay grade for this position is 11.
This is a part-time position, typically working between 28 -30 hours per week (Mon-Fri 8:30 am - 1:30 pm or sometimes 2:00 pm) at LunchPlus Club sites located throughout Cabarrus County. Must be willing and able to travel between different site locations throughout Cabarrus County as needed.This position is eligible for select benefits: retirement, 401-K, twelve paid holidays, sick and vacation pay. Medical insurance is not provided for this position.
General Definition of Work:
Performs intermediate human support work managing the serving of meals at a congregate meal nutrition site. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Nutrition Program Supervisor.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:Preparing nutrition site for meals; serving meals at nutrition site; planning activities; maintaining records and confidentiality; preparing reports.

- Prepares, maintains and submits daily, weekly and monthly reports as required.
- Prepares site for arrival of participants and food delivery by cleaning and sanitizing site and equipment before and after meal.
- Prepares beverages; sets up trays and cups. Receives food from caterer; takes and records temperature; prepares and serves food to participants.
- Recruits, trains, orients and instructs volunteer workers at the nutrition site.
- Trains, orients and instructs Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP - Title V) paid worker trainees at site on all processes and functions of a Cabarrus County Congregate Nutrition LunchPlus Site.
- Encourages participants to socialize and interact.
- Raises awareness of services provided by the Cabarrus County Department of Human Services at the LPC sites; identifies and refers participants to intake social workers/supervisor with needs such as assistance in the home, safety-related issues, physical and/or emotional health problems, etc.
- Prepares monthly activity calendars and coordinates daily/weekly activities and special events for the older adult population. Schedules education programs, health screenings, and a wide range of classes which engage senior participants socially, physically and mentally.
- Enforces rules (LPC Policies and Procedures, Nutrition Standards, Cabarrus County Personnel Ordinance)
- Acts as Liaison between Nutrition Coordinator and businesses, as well as the community-at-large.
- Solicits for donations in accordance with Cabarrus County Policy.
- Inventories and shops for site supplies.
- Assists Nutrition Coordinator and Nutrition Site Assistant with outreach and leads for educational presentations to the community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Some knowledge of site operation, meal service and food handling, reading and following menu instructions, record-keeping.Some knowledge of the sanitation of food service areas, utensils and equipment. Some knowledge of the nutritional needs of older adults. Ability to follow oral instructions and understand simple written terms. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and associates. Ability to maintain client confidentiality. Must have excellent customer service skills. Supervisor experience/skills preferred. Prior experience working with a budget. Experience with special programs and event planning and facilitation is a plus. Experience in working with the older adult population. Networking skills with the public is preferred. Ability to attend work regularly.
MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES
- Excellent customer service skills is a must.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality is a must.
- Servsafe, First Aid, CPR, AED Certifications. (Training will be provided, if necessary). Supervisor and training skills is preferred.
- Experience working with the senior adult population is a plus.
- Previous contact with the community for partnerships, donations, and recruiting volunteers is preferred.
Education and Experience:
Requires graduation from high school. Some food handling and serving experience strongly preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Special Requirements:
Possession of CPR and first aid certification. Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
Physical Requirements:
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, standing, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
