What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Program Standards Coordinator position at Cabarrus Health Alliance?
Hours: Part-time (up to 30 hours per week at times). Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for trainings and deadlines. Grant-funded through March 31, 2028.

This is a non-supervisory role that will include the Food and Lodging program (FLI) and grant management of the NEHA RFFM grant(s), assisting with the FDA voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards (VNRFRPS), staff development for the FLI team/program and continual work towards maintaining current standards met and towards achieving additional standards of the VNRFRPS. The NEHA RFFM grant has been awarded for three years beginning April 1, 2025 - March 31, 2028. The program provides funding to State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) retail food regulatory agencies as they advance conformance with the voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards (Retail Program Standards).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing CHA's 2025 Retail Flexible Funding Model (RFFM) grant
- Assist with CHA's VNRFRS program
- Fill roll of NC Retail Programs Standards Network coordinator position
- Achieve and maintain standards 1-9 for our FLI program
- Will act as training coordinator for NC Retail Program Standards Network
Education/Experience: Current REHS, licensed in North Carolina. At-least 5 years of experience working with the FDA Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Standards (VNRFRS), grant writing experience, VNRFRS audit experience.
License: Must maintain registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist by the North Carolina Board of Registered Environmental Health Examiners. Must maintain a valid N.C. driver's license (driving record suitable for driving Health Alliance owned vehicles). Authorization in Food, Lodging and Institutions (FLI).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to gather consolidate, analyze, and evaluate facts to arrive at conclusions and develop recommended actions
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing the polices and regulations dealing with environmental protection to a variety of people
- Must be able to write investigative or narrative reports
- Possess ability to obtain cooperation from public and private sector personnel
- Must be able to create, maintain and use files and public records
- Must have ability to perform environmental investigations and gain voluntary compliance with regulations
