Summary of Position
Under general supervision, the MAC directs patients to appropriate resources for free or reduced cost medications. The MAC works as a liaison between the patients, pharmacies, and medical providers to increase access to medication. They assist in oversight of the 340B pharmacy program. This role assists providers in ordering, receiving, and managing medications for the Medication Access Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions in the English language. Communicate effectively. Interacts in a respectful and professional manner with internal and external customers. Maintains accurate records.
· Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician
· Additional skills required: Knowledge of medical office protocols/procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical nomenclature. Strong basic computer operation and spread sheet skills. Excellent verbal, organizational, and written communication skills
- Additional skills preferred: Bilingual English and Spanish highly preferred.
Education: High school diploma or GED. Pharmacy Technician course completion
Certification(s)/Licensure: Pharmacy Technician Certification required

Key Responsibilities
1. Works with patients to determine the most appropriate sources for their prescription medications and refers patients to appropriate programs and resources.
2. Collects and maintains appropriate documentation for program application.
3. Provides patient assistance with applications for medication assistance programs.
4. Manages annual reenrollment for Medication Access Program (MAP).
5. Communicates with patients regarding the status of application in a timely manner.
6. Works in the pharmacy to assist with medication dispensing
7. Works under the direction of medical provider and/or pharmacist to perform patient medication reconciliation.
8. Assists patients in securing the most affordable way to obtain medications (manufacturer’s coupons, savings cards, etc.
9. Maintains sample medication closet to ensure that all expired meds have been removed each month.
10. Manages patient medication donations and assists with medication distribution to all clinics
11. Promotes positive clinic relationships with drug representatives and coordinates visits.
12. Works with CRCHC providers to maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal pharmacy and dispensary regulations.
13. Assists DOCS with educating providers on optimizing pharmacy use for all patients.
14. Maintains current knowledge of medications and pharmacy resources available to patients.
15. Utilizes licensed software to apply for and monitor all medications ordered. Perform data transfers on a regular basis to report activity.
16. Works with the Compliance Department on digital pharmacy interface reporting along with digital report creation.
17. Manages the 340B program and works claims to ensure optimization of patient use.
18. Communicates with CRCHC administration and community pharmacy partners concerning 340B program implementation, progress, and monitoring.
19. Participates in quality improvement activities by initiating or contributing to monitoring, measuring, analyzing, improving and/or controlling program goals, objectives and/or services.
20. Supports current incentive, regulatory, and certification requirements (such as Meaningful Use, PCMH and UDS) through documentation, participation in initiatives, and other activities as directed.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.
