Position Summary
The College and Career Program Coordinator will play a key role in developing and supporting college and career readiness programs for youth at The Cabbage Patch. This individual will collaborate with staff, community partners, and educational institutions to provide youth with the tools, resources, and guidance needed to successfully transition from high school to post-secondary education or the workforce. The coordinator will oversee program logistics, manage relationships with external partners, and track participant progress to ensure positive outcomes.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement college and career readiness programming, including workshops, one-on-one mentoring, job readiness training, and college preparation activities.
- Provide individualized support to program participants, helping them navigate college applications, financial aid, career exploration, and workforce readiness.
- Cultivate partnerships with local colleges, employers, and community organizations to create opportunities for internships, scholarships, and job placements.
- Coordinate college tours, career fairs, and other experiential learning opportunities to expose participants to higher education and career pathways.
- Maintain participant records, track progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of programs to ensure continuous improvement and positive outcomes.
- Provide guidance to families and support for youth in overcoming barriers to success, including academic challenges, financial concerns, and emotional support.
- Organize and lead informational sessions for parents and students regarding post-secondary education options, career opportunities, and life skills.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers, mentors, and guest speakers for program activities.
- Stay current on trends and best practices related to college and career readiness and incorporate them into program design.
- Serve as department liaison for the emerging Cabbage Patch alumni group.
- Cross-train to provide supervision and support in various program areas, including the front admissions area, game room, gym, outdoor spaces, and other designated program areas as needed.
Qualifications
- Genuine compassion and commitment to supporting youth from all backgrounds in alignment with The Cabbage Patch’s mission and values.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, business management, or related field (highly preferred); minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth in an educational or career development setting (strongly preferred).
- Previous experience working for a nonprofit organization is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of college and career preparation resources, including college admissions, financial aid, and job readiness programs.
- Ability to work effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds, building trust and fostering positive relationships.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in program management and community partnership development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- High level of empathy, patience, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work in diverse environments, including office, recreational, and educational settings.
- Willingness to collaborate with staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Ability to work in an office environment, participate in community events, and travel as necessary for program activities.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $45,000.00 per year
