What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Medication Distribution Tech position at Cabell Huntington Hospital?
Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Medication Distribution Tech for our Pharmacy Department.
Pharmacy technicians in this role will improve communication between nursing and pharmacy, as they will be working on patient care units. Having these technicians on the patient care units and working directly with nursing will result in the following: (1) eliminate wasted time nursing spends away from the bedside tracking down medications, (2) allow nursing to focus on their patients, and (3) reduce medication waste resulting in cost-savings. In addition, technicians will ensure that nursing has the right drug(s), at the right place, at the right time, and in the right amount. When not facilitating medication deliveries, the technicians are to assist with medication histories on patients that need to be reviewed/completed and other tasks needed to assist in the central pharmacy.
Requirements:Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- Junior College/Technical School is preferred
- West Virginia Board Technician Registration is required
- Pharmacy Technician National Certification is required
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 to 2 Years of Position-Related Experience
- 2 to 5 Years of Position-Related Experience is preferred
Position-related experience includes: (1) hospital pharmacy experience, so that there is familiarity with automated dispensing cabinets and collaborating with nursing – required and (2) working as a pharmacy technician in an ambulatory care or retail setting or having previous involvement in the medication history process in a former job role – preferred but not required.
