PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB
The Door Department Lead is responsible for managing and facilitating all aspects of the department that produces doors and panels for cabinets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Performs all the functions of a Door Technician.
- Supervises staff to produce cabinet doors and panels.
- Manages and facilitates all aspects of Door Department functions, to include human resource management, team training, and effective communication with other department leads.
- Sets daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicates them to team.
- Monitors and updates production schedule across all necessary platforms.
- Ensures and maintains the quality of doors and panels by creating and enforcing Quality Control processes.
- Organizes workflow by assigning responsibilities, preparing schedules and communicating job expectations.
- Coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees.
- Initiates, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinates pre-departmental activity with production needs.
- Plans, monitors, and appraises job results.
- Submits reports on performance and progress.
- Leads and motivates all subordinates to fulfill schedules, lower costs and improve quality.
- Ensures the safe use of equipment and schedules regular maintenance.
- Identifies issues in efficiency and suggests improvements.
- Demonstrates professionalism in all forms of communication.
- Oversees the accurate recording and submission of timesheets by staff members.
- Develops and maintains work schedules for employees by coordinating shift assignments, vacation requests, and sick leave coverage.
- Optimizes staffing levels to meet operational needs.
- Seeks and maintains continued training and education as required by Concepts by Design, such as required reading and training events outside the scope of daily operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Minimum one year’s experience in the cutting, shaping and assembling of cabinet doors and panels.
- Possess all of the knowledge, skills and abilities of a Door Technician.
- Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of machinery and tools common to door assembly including but not limited to saws, sanders, and clamps.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to scheduling changes and customer service needs.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Strong understanding of plans which detail the layout and appearance of cabinetry and closets.
- Ability to be decisive; evaluating tasks, duties, projects, or people using good judgment.
- Ability to take initiative; to make, form, conceive and visualize thoughts and expressions to produce new methods, suggestions, or solutions.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage daily activities to ensure timely and accurate results.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, team environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A capacity for learning new skills quickly.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of Crows Nest software.
- Sufficient understanding of production operations to be able to assist in other departments.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
