Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our team for the Summer. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to support the design, implementation, and optimization of automated systems used in our cabinet manufacturing processes. You will gain valuable exposure to engineering principles, automation systems, and lean manufacturing techniques in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Principal Functional Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and testing of automated systems for cabinet manufacturing processes, including CNC machines, robotic arms, and conveyor systems.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop solutions that improve production efficiency and product quality through automation.
  • Help troubleshoot and maintain automated systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support the creation and modification of engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with the quality control team to ensure that automation solutions meet safety and compliance standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide input on ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct research on the latest automation technologies and tools relevant to the cabinetry industry.
  • Assist in implementing lean manufacturing principles to streamline workflows and reduce waste.

Essential Qualifications And Skills

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, with an interest in automation and robotics.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and engineering design principles.
  • Experience or coursework in automation technologies, including PLC programming, robotics, or CNC systems, is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and capable of taking initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and process optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation software (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or other PLC programming languages).
