Auto Body Paint Prepper
Location: Cable Dahmer of Topeka - 3731 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66609
Full-Time (Weekdays Only)
Job Summary:
As an Auto Body Paint Prepper, you will be responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces for paint applications. This includes sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning vehicles to ensure a smooth and flawless finish. You will work closely with the body shop team to make sure the paint job meets company and industry standards for quality and aesthetics.
Responsibilities:
- Sand, clean, and prep vehicle surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of paint.
- Apply primers, sealers, and undercoats as needed.
- Mask off areas of vehicles that should not be painted.
- Inspect surfaces for imperfections and correct them to ensure a flawless finish.
- Work closely with painters and technicians to understand the job requirements and follow the work order instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that tools, equipment, and materials are properly stored and maintained.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including handling of hazardous materials and using protective equipment.
- Assist in the overall repair and restoration process by prepping vehicles for painting and reassembly.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest techniques, tools, and trends in auto body prep and paint applications.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an Auto Body Paint Prepper or in an automotive repair shop (preferred but not required).
- Familiarity with sanding, masking, and priming techniques.
- Ability to assess and correct imperfections in vehicle surfaces.
- Knowledge of automotive paint products, including primers, sealers, and topcoats.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a standing, bending, and crouching position for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license
