The OSP Designer I role creates broadband system designs that are the most cost-effective while maintaining Cable One standards and specifications. Under general supervision/guidance, this position prepares and supports detailed engineering and design drawing files using SpatialNet and AutoCAD software platforms. The OSP Designer I works closely with Technical Operations, Construction, and Engineering to facilitate design/engineering services. The position maintains Cable One’s broadband design and digitizing standards. We are open to hiring remote if we find the right talent in any of the following states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, LA, MD, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, OR, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT. What you will do to contribute to the company's success · Design new and existing HFC and Fiber plant extensions. · Perform base drafting. · Accurately read walkout information. · Updates as-builts as construction is completed and releases the area. · Provide a complete construction build packet, which includes full design deliverables in a timely manner. · Learn new software and adapt to new technology when required. · Creates complicated fiber splicing matrixes and Lightpath circuits. · Responsible for fiber availability and determination of reinforcement requirements. · Design major plant upgrades. · Perform plant undesigns and redesigns. · Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects at one time with accuracy. · Takes on other duties needed to help drive our Purpose, fulfill our Brand Principles, and abide by our Organization’s Values. Qualifications · Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or university and minimum five-years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Outside plan design, construction, or Geospatial Information Systems experience preferred. · Knowledge and experience with SpatialNet and AutoCAD Applications. · Intermediate understanding of cable design · Well-versed in HFC and Fiber symbology · Familiarity with telecommunications outside plant equipment, design, and construction techniques. · Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. · Ability to effectively problem-solve complicated issues. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to clearly communicate information.
