Job Summary: The Lead Technician supports all aspects of telecommunication installations including, the installation of low-voltage cables, and setting up electronic equipment and communication devices. This includes the physical installation of cabling, overseeing the work of others, surveying work sites to determine the best installation practices, coordinating workflow within the unit, acting as company liaison, and providing on-the-job training to other technicians as needed. May take on a leadership role for smaller projects or collaborate with the on-site Project Manager for large-scale installations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Successfully lead an installation group or team using project management installation skills
- Perform advanced testing and troubleshooting for both copper and optical fiber installations
- Discuss and evaluate numerous specific applications of cabling installation
- Make recommendations based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices
- Implement the job plan and scope of work as well as perform retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure
- Responsible for forecasting 2-4 weeks of material, labor, lifts, and test and/or safety equipment needed
- Proofread all documents and scope and review plans within 1 week of job start
- Follow company protocol for all aspects of the job including employee write up
- Learn and adhere to all required safety standards
- Utilize knowledge of industry-standard color codes and terminations
- Run projects with LEAN Construction ideology
- Maintains a clean & organized work environment.
- Professionally dressed per KANE policies
- Provide transportation to and from work sites
- Comply with all Department Standards, Policies & Procedures
- Properly explain the importance of safety and professionalism toward optimal job performance
- Discuss and develop pathways, spaces, bonding, grounding, and firestopping with Project Lead/Foreman
- Make decisions based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
- Choose the correct tool or methodology for specific tasks
- Some travel may be requested

Education and Experience:
- 2-3 Years of Low Voltage Installation Experience in Commercial Construction
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of market and competition
- Must be OSHA 10 Certified, OSHA 30 preferred.
- Installer Certification from one or more manufacturers (i.e., Leviton, Berk-Tek, SYSTIMAX, Ortronics, Panduit, etc.)
