Scope of Role
The SolidWorks Draftsman will work within our design and engineering team to develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings for custom vehicle builds. This entry-level role requires strong attention to detail, basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, and a willingness to adapt and learn.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, modifying, and managing production drawings, ensuring designs meet company standards, regulations, and customer requirements. This position involves both office-based design work and collaboration with the fabrication and installation teams to ensure accurate execution of designs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and update 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks
- Develop detailed part and assembly drawings for manufacturing
- Modify and revise designs based on team feedback and production requirements
- Assist in calculating tolerances, material compatibility, and structural integrity
- Maintain and organize an efficient file system for production drawings, ensuring thelatest revision is on the floor, and earlier revisions are properly archived
- Communicate with fabrication, QC, and engineering teams to ensure design accuracy
- Research and integrate industry standards (FMVSS, RV, and OEM Bodybuilder Guidelines) into vehicle designs
- Participate in design reviews and quality control checks to confirm compliance with specifications
Experience & Qualifications
- 1 years of SolidWorks experience (or technical coursework equivalent)
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Proficiency in reading and creating technical drawings
- Basic understanding of tolerancing, materials, and mechanical design
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or relevant coursework preferred
