What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gunsmith Technicians position at Cabot Guns?
We are recruiting a motivated individual to join our company as a Gunsmith. As part of our team, you will work with a small group of individuals dedicated to their craft and a small business just as dedicated to its employees.

Complete the following duties including but not limited to:
- Assist Gunsmith Team and company to ensure compliance with all State and Federal (ATF) regulations
- Work in a manner that always ensures safety
- Hand assemble and customize pistols according to customer needs and specifications
- Part preparation including removal of machining marks, finishing, fitting, testing, and blending with the use of hand tools and machines such as grinders
- Metal polishing / hand polishing
- Application of coatings and finishes
- Clean, repair, fabricate and disassemble pistols
- Assist in servicing of pistols including cleaning
- Testing of Firearms
- Report to production any issues detected that are attributed to the assembly process
- Work efficiently with all departments to ensure production goals are met and customer orders are completed on time
- Complete documentation in accordance with established procedures
- Conduct as directed equipment maintenance, cleaning, facility maintenance and all other production tasks
- Communicate effectively with team members when there is room for improvement whether it be process or individual performance related
- Openly share constructive feedback and be willing to receive similar feedback

- Follow established safety rules and regulations
- Assist in ensuring the company maintain compliance with State and Federal (ATF) regulations
- Ensure assigned work area and all equipment is treated with respect and well maintained
Requirements and Desired Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Pass background check, with no felony record, based on the requirement of the Federal Firearms License
- Pass a drug screen and be able to work is a drug free environment
- Must be able to lift up-to thirty pounds unaided and be able to bend, crouch, and lift items throughout shift
- Knowledge of 1911 Pistols, operation and firearm safety
- Gunsmithing Degree or schooling preferred
- Experience in machining, engraving, CNC operations, etc. a plus
- Metallurgy and woodworking knowledge a plus
- Ability to work on lathe machine, milling machine and Bridgeport’s preferred

Expected hours of work:
- This position will be a 45-hour a week position with the typical workweek being M-F within the operating hours between 6am-5pm established with your supervisor. Cabot Gun Co. reserves the right to assign any individual to the best suited shift.
