OVERVIEW
Our Public Works Department is searching for an Equipment Operator to join our team. The Equipment Operator is a full-time position generally working on-site Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The starting wage for this position is $23.00 an hour.
The Equipment Operator is a benefitted position. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance on the first day of employment, retirement contributions, bereavement leave, and 14 paid holidays. Full-time employees also receive 18 days of personal leave in the first year of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs a variety of road construction projects; maintenance efforts including snow removal, filling potholes, chip sealing, etc.; clearing debris from roads/drainages; repairing or replacing culverts and ditches; vegetation control and tree trimming; and any number of tasks regarding the maintenance or construction of County road and facilities.
- Operates the following equipment: Dump truck, Pup, snow plow and sander unit, water truck; backhoe and front end loader for basic loading functions, forklift, skid steer, rollers, compactors, wood chippers, sweeper, and a variety of hand tools, etc.
- Must comply with applicable county and departmental policies and safety standards.
- Checks and services assigned equipment; performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs as needs; completes pre/post trip inspections.
- Performs duties with due regard for personal safety, that of other employees, and the public.
- Performs other duties (including, flagging, general labor, etc.) as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or GED required; AND One (1) year general work experience performing related duties; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Utah Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Required certifications: CDL; tanker, doubles and triples endorsement preferred.
- Must possess and keep current UDOT medical card and submit to and pass randomly administered drug tests.
- Must have no DUI or ARR violations within the past five (5) years and no more than two (2) moving violations in the past twenty-four (24) months.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible working schedule and occasionally work weekends and shifts.
