OVERVIEW
Cache County invites candidates to apply for an Events Coordinator position. This is a full-time, benefited position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively communicate and promote the rental and use of the Cache County Fairgrounds and Event Center facilities and ancillary services. Provide all interested parties with pertinent information regarding fees, rules, regulations, and agreements governing the use of facilities. Rent buildings and grounds to individuals, clubs, and groups; ensure rental agreements are completed; and compliance with alcohol policy; collect rent, deposits, and proof of insurance.
Serves on committees and boards as assigned and works cooperatively with other county departments, divisions, and agencies to promote tourism, economic development, and special events.
Coordinate the planning and scheduling of county-sponsored events and other events including, but not limited to: car shows, horse pulls, barrel races, demolition derbies, seminars, sports competitions, community events, wedding receptions, private events, etc. Determine space, equipment, and labor requirements for proposed activities. Provide for and coordinate specialized labor and/or equipment needs when necessary.
Work closely with event staff and applicants to determine specific needs regarding set-up, operation, take-down of the events, and rapid reset for back-to-back events. Work closely with Event Center and Fairgrounds staff to ensure buildings and grounds are properly prepared for the renter or applicant, including stage, sound, and lighting equipment, and are properly and safely installed. Maintain in safe, rentable condition: chairs, tables, stage components, electrical and AV equipment.
Monitor Event Center employee's performance related to specific tasks, safety, and other areas of concern; make decisions and carry out a variety of personnel actions affecting retention, promotion, discipline, and discharge. Conduct staff planning and training meetings. Instruct staff in operational and policy procedures to ensure strict adherence to performance standards.
Assist with annual budget preparations and budget oversight related to the Event Center, including grant preparation and purchasing compliance.
Operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all Utah laws and regulations.
Collaborates with the Cache County Sheriff's Office to determine appropriate law enforcement and security services for events.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Graduation from college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Parks/Recreation, Hospitality, or a related field AND a minimum of two (2) years of experience performing above or related duties; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications: Must successfully pass a thorough background check and may not have been convicted of a felony; must have a valid driver's license and no convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or reckless driving offenses within the previous 5 years or no more than 2 moving violations within the previous 2 years. Preference will be given to applicants with custodial experience.
