OVERVIEW
Are you detail-oriented and task-driven? We are seeking an Office Specialist to perform daily clerical duties in our Sheriff's Office. The Office Specialist will Perform a variety of working-level, complex clerical duties as needed to provide day-to-day administrative and clerical support for the Sheriff's Office, including transcription in the administrative division, accounts receivable, inmate accounting, patrol records, pay-for-stay, accounts payable, or mail service. The office specialist may cross-train in all areas of office support operations.
The Office Specialist is a full-time, benefitted position. The hourly wage for this position starts at $20.33.
Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance on the first day of employment, retirement contributions, bereavement leave, and 14 paid holidays. Full-time employees also receive 18 days of personal leave in the first year of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Office Specialist may perform clerical duties such as searching files, filing, sorting and distributing facility mail, answering telephones, relaying messages, receiving, storing and distributing supplies, inventory, operating a computer, printer, copy machine, paper shredder, telephone, fax machine, 10-Key, scanner, etc.; fills in data on standard office forms, makes postings to various records, collates and assembles materials according to established methods and procedures; composes and types correspondence as directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from High School and Course work in general office practices and secretarial duties; AND have two years general office experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge: Working Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, grammar, spelling, and punctuation, various numeric and alpha record systems; MS Office, Excel, Word, Quicken, etc.; general office management practices and procedures of the Sheriff's Office; the civil functions of the Sheriff's Office and its interrelationship with other county departments; interpersonal communication skills; computer terminal operation and programs unique to civil document processing requirements. Some knowledge of law enforcement software; of administrative procedures; of legal processes associated with the maintenance of public records and documents; GRAMA; interpersonal communication skills, bookkeeping and basic accounting.
