Job Description:
As the Network Engineer, you will support our nation’s intelligence and DoD community. You will have the opportunity to work with the nation’s largest data sets and assist in solving our nation’s most complex data challenges. You will complete a variety of interesting tasks focused on network engineering and collaborate with others on the project to brainstorm about the best way to tackle complex problems.
In this position, you will be responsible for router/switch configuration and security management. The network includes local and geographically dispersed LAN enclaves connected by WAN links.
• Establish Ports and Service Requests.
• Ensure the integrity of integration, innovation and provisional communications architectures.
• Install, support and maintain communications network components as well as planning for, and responding to, communications outages and other problems.
• Routinely check the status of network communications systems.
• Ensuring all network devices are configured and functioning properly.
• Troubleshooting any networking issues that arise.
• Monitoring the network for performance issues or failing equipment.
• Analyze the network for optimization opportunities.
• Maintain backups of all device configurations.
• Maintain all network diagrams.
• Create network diagrams for new capabilities that are presented.
• Attend meetings that may require technical input.
• Provide recommendations regarding the network infrastructure.
• Manage IP databases.
• Configure new or replacement equipment.
• Experience with ticketing and collaboration systems such as Confluence and Jira.
Qualifications
Require:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years experience (in IS Technology, Computer Science or related field) or 9 years equivalent experience without a Bachelor's degree.
- DOD Directive 8570 IAT II certification (Security or equivalent).
- Experience with Cisco network equipment (e.g., Catalyst switches, Nexus switches…etc.)
- Experience with Layer 2 switching technologies.
- Good understanding of Layer 1 and 2 troubleshooting and technologies.
- Experience with documentation tools (Visio, Excel, Word).
- Experience with network monitoring tools.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Motivated self-starter with an analytical focus, problem solving skills, time management skills.
- Actively seeks to enhance the group through knowledge sharing.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
