What You’ll Get to Do:
Are you interested in supporting the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) in support of their mission to foster technological dominance across the Department of Defense OUSD(R&E) has the lead responsibility within the Department of Defense (DoD) for synchronizing Science & Technology (S&T) efforts across the DoD, the Joint Staff and the Services to ensure the unquestioned superiority of the American joint force. As a Program Analyst/Multimedia Specialist you will have an opportunity to provide support to achieve its mission .
More About the Role:
You will support OUSD(R&E) to develop high-quality written products, briefing materials, and other presentation/public facing products that convey accurate and compelling messaging. You will engage with senior level officials on regular basis to consult on messaging and communications strategies.
Responsibilities include:
- Generating new and dynamic presentations properly scoped to different audiences
- Reviewing, analyzing, and recommending solutions to programmatic problems and issues; track issues and problems through to resolution; and respond to related questions and correspondence
- Scheduling and coordinating speaking engagements and the associated logistics related to the presentation of material
- Researching multiple topics, such as major technical issues and research trends, and use that research to write speeches and create presentations that focus on specific topics to engage audiences
- Drafting speeches and presentations specifically for customer; and produce complex, high-profile speeches, presentations, and communications for customer
- Producing clear communications through a wide range of styles and formats, including formal speeches, PowerPoint presentations, blogs, videos, letters, articles, op-ed and bylined pieces, and social media channels
- Coordinating with the R&E executive administrative support to ensure logistics, security clearances, communication, and coordination with contacts at speaking venues and events is accomplished in support of R&E leadership engagements
- Providing recommendations on acceptance, de-confliction, and priority of speaking engagements/events in close coordination with the Public Affairs specialist, executive administrative support staff, and government personnel in the OUSD(R&E)
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Seven (7) years’ of experience
- Expert in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as with multimedia and social media applications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, journalism, or communications is required. Graduate degree in communications, journalism, or media, is preferred
- DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Experience and skills in communications, public relations, and/or journalism at the DoD and/or service component Headquarters level
- Proficient with social media and ability to develop and carry out social media communication strategies
- Ability to write and create presentations quickly and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate to different audiences using multiple applications
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex subject matter in plain English
