The Corporate Director, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) is a key leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs across all Cacique Foods locations, including three manufacturing sites, field sales operations, and the corporate headquarters. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, drives a culture of safety, and drives sustainability initiatives that align with the company’s values and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
EHS Strategy and Leadership
- Develop, executes and communicates a comprehensive EHS strategy that aligns with Cacique Foods' operational goals and sustainability objectives.
- Serve as the primary advisor to senior leadership on EHS matters, providing regular updates on performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead the EHS function while being deeply engaged in the day-to-day activities, including hiring, training, and mentoring a team of EHS professionals across multiple locations.
- Ensure compliance and serve as primary company contact with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
- Oversee workers’ compensation administration program, including reporting, modified work programs, and LOA management.
- Foster a proactive safety culture by engaging employees at all levels and promoting accountability for EHS performance.
- Design and deliver training programs for employees, contractors, and leadership to enhance EHS awareness and competencies.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Lead sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and emissions reduction.
- Monitor and report on the company’s environmental performance, setting and achieving measurable goals.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to advance Cacique Foods' sustainability efforts.
- Collaborate with business / site leadership to integrate EHS priorities into business processes as a priority.
- Collaborate with HR, operations, and legal teams to address safety-related concerns.
- Provide guidance on EHS considerations during new product development, facility expansions, and other strategic initiatives.
- Serve as the liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
- Provide guidance and support to site-specific safety teams.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive EHS experience, including multi-site management in manufacturing or food production environments.
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Experience with sustainability reporting and driving environmental initiatives.
