What You’ll Be Doing
As the critical driver of student success, the primary responsibility of a founding teacher is to effectively instruct students and inspire young minds in a manner that supports holistic and identity-based education. Founding teachers are accountable for students’ academic performance and will receive extensive coaching to ensure that all standards are being met. In addition, teachers are expected to effectively manage classroom behavior while supporting the identity-driven climate and culture of the school. A founding classroom teacher will play an integral role in building our school in our first year and beyond.
One teacher within each grade-level will be established as a lead teacher (added responsibility / compensation). The classroom teacher reports directly to the School Principal with support from the Assistant Principal, Dean of Culture, and Lead Teacher.
Roles / Responsibilities
Instructional
- Effectively plan and deliver daily lessons which align to school wide academic plans and cover all required academic standards.
- Frequently collect and analyze classroom assessment data to monitor student growth and attainment, differentiate content and inform small group instruction.
- Create a safe, loving and respectful classroom culture through effective classroom management and positive behavior techniques.
- Collect and analyze classroom behavioral data to inform management decisions.
- Implement culturally responsive teaching practices in daily instruction.
- Collaborate with Department of Special Services to identify students for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure compliance in meeting existing IEP requirements.
- Work collaboratively with grade-level teammates and administrators to monitor and adjust instructional and behavioral programming.
- Participate in weekly observation and coaching sessions.
