Summary of Position
The Assistant Manager is responsible for aligning on and supporting the objectives set by ownership and the General Manager, as well as ensuring the day to day operations of the business are smooth. The assistant manager will work to ensure the staff is providing five star service to guests, maximizing revenues by way of consistent charging and product knowledge. It is their duty to ensure consistency and quality service standards are met at all times. All duties are to be performed in accordance with policies, practices and procedures.
Coordinate with management the planning, organizing, training, and leadership necessary to achieve agreed upon business objectives, including sales, costs, profitability, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation.
Regularly measure and evaluate service levels and standards using guest and employee feedback and coordinate with management for continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understands completely & conforms to all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs.
- Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given attentive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.
- Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking, and serving standards.
- Support objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance of facility, sanitation, and cleanliness through training of employees and by creating a positive and productive working environment.
- Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with restaurant policies and procedures.
- Quickly inform and partner with management regarding employment and termination decisions.
- Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations are always meeting guest expectations.
- Continuously strives to develop staff in all areas by being the example
- Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner, as asked by the general manager.
- Ensure that all areas and equipment are kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection
- Ability to speak to and, at times be responsible for, inventories including food, liquor, beer, wine, furniture, accessories, and equipment. This includes understanding our inventory management and ordering processes to ensure the product is on hand.
- Ensure that all products are received in correct unit count and condition, and deliveries are received in accordance with the receiving policies and procedures.
- Manage labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed as needed
- Be knowledgeable of restaurant policies regarding personnel, and, administer prompt, fair, and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules, and procedures.
- Understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety, and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees, and guests.
- Assist in developing, planning, and executing all marketing, advertising, and promotional activities and campaigns.
- Express restaurant needs to the general manager, and at time, ownership
- Respond to any & all corrective action requests from the General Manager in a timely manner.
- Ensure all restaurant staff & management team members have necessary tools to perform daily duties.
- Communicate well all aspects of weekly operations by leading daily huddles at the start and end of each shift.
- Lead by example in all areas by becoming the expert in all aspects.
- Participate in company policy and standards development as needed
- Be a role model and a teacher.
- Maintain a high level of motivation among all employees by encouraging feedback
- Encourages all employees to participate in development of promotional and marketing concepts.
- Support management and employees with guest complaints when needed.
- Reviews ratings with social media outlets and online platforms with management first and then the team to learn how to develop a strategy to increase positive ratings.
- Works with management on the implementation and ongoing training of the staff to maintain a safe environment for guests and employees. For example, plans for evacuation and dealing with unruly guests.
- Schedule and organize events with the outside party, this could include but is not limited to, tailored pricing based on requests, coordinating IT, in house or outside catering, room setup, creative staff scheduling
- Resolve escalated issues with customers and/or vendors with the recommended customer service related comps as appropriate.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar environment.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
- General understanding of operating expenses
- Basic math skills and ability to use a cash register and/ or POS systems
- Strong understanding in use of social media, online platforms, and computers
- Must have a driver's license and an active ABC license
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, including nights, weekends and holidays; open availability
- Excellent interpersonal and guest service skills to deal effectively with guests, employees and management, strong organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints with particular attention to detail and quality of service.
- Ability to multi- task in a very high paced and stressful environment; remain calm in a very stressful environment.
- Physical ability to withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting and carrying items.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
- Be organized in all areas e.g., storage areas, side work, and scheduling needs.
