Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Residential Drafter to join our design team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating detailed architectural drawings and plans for residential construction projects, including single-family homes and small-scale multi-family units. This position requires a strong understanding of architectural design, building codes, and drafting software to obtain permit approval and support construction processes. Key Responsibilities
- Drafting and Design:
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, and layouts for residential construction projects.
- Translate sketches, concepts, and design briefs into accurate and comprehensive floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed construction documents.
- Generate permit drawings and coordinate permit application submittals.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and field staff to ensure alignment on project requirements and expectations.
- Establish communication with municipal plan reviewers as necessary to obtain permit approvals.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.
- Maintain high-quality standards in drawings and ensure they are clear and error-free.
- Project Management:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Maintain organized records of drafts, revisions, and project documentation.
- Software and Tools:
- Utilize AutoCAD to produce drawings.
- Provide permit submittal documents using MS Office products.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Drafting, Design, or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience as a drafter, preferably in residential projects.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Working Conditions
- Work primarily in an office with occasional site visits as required.
- Must be able to meet tight deadlines and manage workload efficiently.
