What are the responsibilities and job description for the Educator (Seasonal) position at Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention?
The Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention (Cade Museum), a non-profit 501(c)3 located in Gainesville, Florida, is seeking to hire an adaptable, creative, and dynamic individual to join our team in the role of Educator I. This is a part-time position in a small startup, casual, entrepreneurial environment. Educators must be available to work during museum general admission hours, including weekends as needed. This is a temporary position that will run from May 22, 2025 through August 10, 2025.
Educator positions are guest facing, customer service roles. Educators teach hands-on activities as a part of daily museum programming. We seek Educators with a wide range of training and experience. Educators should be passionate about learning new skills and concepts while also inspiring others to explore, question, and create.
Educators should be comfortable engaging with the public and with basic STEAM concepts. Educators do not need to have prior experience with teaching science, art, or technology but must be willing to learn about a wide range of topics.
The successful candidate must be reliable and dependable, self-motivated, and proactive. A positive, team-oriented attitude is a must!
General Responsibilities
- Greet, orient, and assist visitors throughout the museum
- Facilitate daily programming by engaging visitors with hands-on, inquiry-based learning
- Assist with prep-work for museum activities
- Work collaboratively as part of the Cade Team
- Keep up to date with training materials
- Ensure a guest-ready workspace
- Demonstrate commitment to The Cade Museum's vision, mission, and values
- Perform other duties as necessary or assigned
Qualifications
- Able to teach and spark curiosity in audiences of all ages
- Passion for STEAM learning
- Enjoy engaging with the public on a regular basis
- Organized, team-oriented, with attention to detail
- Ideal candidate will possess a "can do" attitude with a "will do" work ethic
- Preferred minimum one year teaching, public outreach, or guest facing experience (formal or informal)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Able to pass Level 2 background check
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 14 – 28 per week
