We are seeking a Policy Writer to develop, maintain, and improve company-wide policies. This role requires exceptional technical writing skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with executives, legal teams, and operational leaders. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of financial or regulatory environments and can distill complex concepts into clear, actionable documentation.
Responsibilities
- Draft, revise, and organize internal policies, procedures, and operational guidelines across departments (e.g., credit & underwriting, compliance, HR, IT, and collections).
- Collaborate directly with the executive team to gather business requirements and ensure alignment between policy and strategy.
- Ensure that policies reflect current laws, regulations, and industry best practices, particularly within the auto finance and subprime lending sectors.
- Maintain a centralized, well-structured library of internal documentation that is accessible, organized, and version-controlled.
- Translate technical, legal, and operational concepts into clear, reader-friendly documentation for a variety of audiences.
- Track regulatory changes and industry developments to identify policy gaps or updates needed.
- Support audits and risk reviews by maintaining clear, compliant, and up-to-date policies.
- Manage versioning and ensure that all team members are working from the most current policy set.
Requirements
- Exceptional technical writing and editing skills with a proven ability to distill complexity into clarity.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficient in documentation tools (e.g., Notion, or Microsoft Office).
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, a related field, or exceptional writing skills.
Nice to Haves
- Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Certified Technical Writer) are a plus.
- Experience supporting investor or board reporting with clear, policy-driven documentation
- Ability to create policy training materials or lead documentation onboarding sessions
- Passion for clear communication, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
- Professional experience writing policies, procedures, or technical documentation. Financial services, fintech, or regulated industry experience strongly preferred.
