Description

The McShane Companies are seeking a team-oriented HR Business Partner with a passion for people and a desire to drive employee engagement. Supported by a corporate HR team in Chicago, the HRBP will support and execute the people strategies of Cadence McShane Construction, including organizational development, workforce planning, training, recruitment, and retention. Moving to Plano, TX in February, 2025, Cadence McShane operates an in-person work policy while remaining flexible when personal needs or situations arise. Occasional travel to company offices in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston is required.


Responsibilities

  • Meets regularly with respective business unit leaders. Provides guidance and input on business unit staffing, organizational structure, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to managers about leading teams and managing performance; addresses routine performance management situations (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Helps managers interpret and develop action plans related to Gallup Employee Engagement survey results.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs. Leverages external partnerships to deliver training as needed.
  • Plans, develops, and implements soft skill training at each career level to improve team collaboration and to develop project, team, and company leaders with strong people management skills.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for employees with policy questions or complaints and for those seeking advice about job, career, or interpersonal situations.
  • Implements an effective onboarding process for new hires that provides a smooth first-day experience and provides direction and resources to help them quickly acclimate to the company.
  • Manages staff Recruiter and oversees talent acquisition for the company. Works with hiring managers and staff Recruiter to identify hiring needs and recruiting strategies. Oversees and directs college recruitment; assists as needed.
  • Works with managers and recruiting staff to develop terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers. Communicates and facilitates the annual merit increase and bonus process with business unit leaders.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of human resources experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or commensurate level of education and experience.
  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • SPHR or SHRM-CP credential a plus.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to travel 3-4 times/year to company offices in Texas.
