The Operations and Sales Manager will serve as the critical link between our sales and operations areas as well as our technological and administrative teams. This role requires a deep understanding of customer relationship management and retention, business functions, project management expertise, and flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of construction jobsites and truck orders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving efficiencies in current business processes, starting a CRM functionality, and prioritizing the multiple needs of the business based on revenue generation and operational efficiencies. This role combines hands-on performance and management of daily operational tasks and objectives, team leadership, and hands-on sales management to achieve organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the Sales and Operations teams to guide revenue growth and maintain customer relationships.
- Sales Management:
- Implement and continuously improve the sales team structure, tools and staffing to ensure sales goals are met.
- Recruit, train, and mentor sales representatives to build and maintain a high-performing sales team.
- Full cycle contract management, including negotiations and disputes.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new opportunities.
- Create sales forecasts and manage pipeline development to ensure consistent revenue growth.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with key accounts and strategic partners.
- Lead teams that are involved in the customer life cycle so that customers' needs are at the forefront.
- Attend customer meetings to facilitate relationships to increase customer retention and expansion.
- Travel to customer sites is expected.
- Drive the implementation and adoption of CRM best practices across the sales team.
- Oversee the maintenance of detailed customer profiles, interaction histories, and sales opportunities.
- Develop and monitor customer engagement strategies using CRM data and analytics.
- Ensure consistent and accurate data entry and reporting within the CRM system.
- Use CRM insights to identify upsell opportunities and improve customer retention rates.
Operations Management:
- Manage a team of dispatchers who are charged with insuring that customers’ hauling needs are fulfilled. Our customers are major construction contractors throughout California and in other territories. Fill Rate to stay above 90%.
- Recruit contract haulers that meet our customers’ needs and work collaboratively with them to become the company of choice for haulers.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (or relevant experience) in Management, Logistics, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Customer Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with demonstrated advancement in a business environment.
- Strong people and project management, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis skills.
- 3 years of progressive sales experience preferred.
- 5 years of sales and operation team management experience preferred.
