General Scope of Responsibility:

Supervise and direct hourly employees in the day -to-day operation of the plant.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

§ Implement and maintain the safety, quality, production standards, and policies of the Company. Conduct training, problem solving, and team meetings as necessary. Strive for continuous improvement.

SAFETY:

§ Instruct and see that safe work practices are being observed and used. Be aware of any unsafe work practices or conditions and take corrective action.

§ Enforce all plant rules and regulations.

§ Report and document all safety concerns in Health and Safety Incident Log

§ Conduct investigations of accidents and injuries. Fill out and submit Supervisor’s Report of Injury.

QUALITY:

§ Ensure that all products being manufactured meet or exceed customer requirements. When products do not meet customer specifications, the Supervisor is to see that corrective action is implemented.

§ DMR hold all products that do not meet specifications. Alert Quality Department of quality problems.

§ Verify operator check sheets to ensure quality checks are being performed and sign off as required.

§ Maintain a leadership role in directing continuous improvement related to quality and productivity.

PRODUCTIVITY

§ Implement and maintain production standards.

§ Reduce scrap rates.

§ Ensure specification work orders are written and correct before they are placed on the production floor.

§ Coordinate changes with Department schedulers and resolve any schedule or personnel conflicts

§ Ensure equipment is operational. When breakdowns or maintenance repairs are needed, notify Maintenance Department and fill out maintenance Work Request. See that repairs are completed timely.

§ Ensure that operators have the needed supplies and equipment to do their assigned jobs safely and efficiently.

§ Strive for continuous improvement in productivity and quality in all areas of the operation.

§ Document operations in Supervisors Log daily.

§ Complete Assigned layered process audits and documentation.

INVENTORY

§ Conductinventories of assigned items.

§ Monitor any supplies that the plant uses to ensure the plant does not run out.

MEETINGS:

§ Conduct shift change communication meeting with on-coming Supervisor, provide run-down of “current state of the operation”

§ Communicate with shift Leaders and participate in daily Leader hand-off meeting.

§ Attend all assigned meetings. Keep oneself updated on items going on within the plant including review of meeting minutes when on the off shift.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: [ Must have to be considered for the position]:

§ High school diploma or equivalent.

§ Five or more years of manufacturing experience.

§ Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

§ Able to work any shift including swing shift.

§ Able to work mandatory overtime.

Desired [Will provide job holder with added skills(s) to perform duties]:

§ Experience motivating employees in creative ways while enforcing plant rules. Ability to use discipline when needed that is fair and consistent.

§ Experience conducting employee meetings, performance evaluations, and training.

§ Understanding of the concepts of Extrusion, converting, and Injection Molding processes.

§ Understanding of the concepts of thermoforming, die cutting, flexographic printing, robotic PLC programming, SPC, DOA, and familiarity with problem solving techniques.

§ Experience with press, printing, and associated operations.

§ Comprehensive knowledge of the key quality and process characteristics of the products and process involved with being an automotive supplier.

§ Demonstrated record of job improvement showing capability as self starter with minimal direction.

§ Ability to work in team environment.

Human Relations:

The Production Supervisor is the first line of management responsible for training, motivating, and developing production employees and, as such, must provide clear communications between operators and upper managerial personnel. The Production Supervisor provides technical and personnel related leadership, promotes safety, quality, and efficiency in plant operations, and is sensitive to employee relations issues.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 35 - 40 pounds.

Environmental conditions include noisy environments with occasional varying temperatures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
