Computer Operator Job Description

• Possess an Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Studies or related field such as Information Technology, Information Management Systems, Computer Technology; or an Associate’s Degree and 2 years experience in using data entry Software tools in a Windows environment and using industry standard reporting tools such as IBM Cognos, MS Access or Crystal Reports.
  • Computer Operator III
• 6 years experience; or possess an Associate’s Degree in Computer Studies or related field and 4 years experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Studies or related field and 2 years experience;. Experience must be using industry standard reporting tools such as IBM Cognos, MS Access or Crystal Reports.
• Familiarity with VDLS and/or VISION ATIRS, Cognos, etc.

• Supporting functional users of computer systems by accepting processing requirements, preparing them for execution, and in some cases performing or directing program execution through remote terminals
• Distributing the products and performing related control processing support duties.
• Setting up, maintaining, and suggesting improvements to the activity’s test databases, such as the ADACS, RITA, ATIRS, and ODIN for more complex projects
• Using web enabled data management systems such as VDLS, VISION ATIRS, etc., and application tools such as Cognos, etc., to query databases
• Working with users and personnel from other agencies involved with or interested in the test results of the system in formulation of requirements that will eventually result in modification to the system
• Assisting in the development of user guidance (e.g., Data Collector’s Handbook, etc.) and in developing enhancements to existing procedures
