This position is responsible for providing superior service to Horseshoe Casino’s guests by seeking out opportunities to be of service and by maintaining highly visible patrols to insure a safe gaming experience, by assuring quality support to other departments so that they may serve guests more effectively. The Security Officer is responsible for proactively maintaining public order, enforcing safety rules, protecting property and assets, and investigating disturbances in the casino and surrounding property areas.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Security Officer position will be charged with protecting company assets and providing a safe environment for Horseshoe Casino Baltimore employees and guests. Essential daily duties will include:
- Insuring the safety and well-being of guests and employees.
- Gives directions and provides escort to customers in need.
- Provides assistance to law enforcement authorities, including testimony in criminal and administrative proceedings as necessary.
- Provides security presence for chip fills, jackpot verifications, and other actions related to gaming.
- Provides escorts of money and persons in money-handling positions.
- Provides first aid when necessary.
- Patrols all sections of the property to identify safety hazards and suspicious circumstances, taking appropriate action as required.
- Interviews, investigates, and documents all relevant incidents in accordance with Horseshoe Casino Security policy.
- Makes lost and found reports.
- Makes necessary reports including detailed descriptions of people and incidents.
- Enforces Horseshoe Casino policies and procedures.
- Meets attendance guidelines of the position and adheres to regulatory and departmental policies and procedures.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- 2 years working experience in private security or law enforcement or 2 years education in the fields of criminal justice, law enforcement, private security, or other related field, or 2 years of combined field experience and education.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid gaming license for the position as required by the Maryland State Lottery and Gaming Commission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift.
- Must present a well-groomed appearance.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions, when handling customer and employee conflicts.
- Must possess the ability to interact in a professional manner with the general public.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess excellent customer and employee relations skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions, when handling customer and employee conflicts.
- Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel.
- Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
- Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
- Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises, and bright lights.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
