Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Wood Maker / Furniture Builder to join our team in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will have experience in woodworking, carpentry, and furniture construction, with a passion for creating high-quality, custom-made pieces. This position involves working with various types of wood, tools, and machinery to craft durable and aesthetically pleasing furniture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, cut, shape, and assemble wood furniture according to specifications.
- Operate woodworking machinery, hand tools, and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, or client designs.
- Sand, stain, and finish furniture to achieve the desired look and durability.
- Repair and restore wooden furniture as needed.
- Ensure precision and attention to detail in all projects.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Collaborate with designers, clients, and team members to bring creative concepts to life.
- Adhere to project deadlines while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a wood maker, carpenter, or furniture builder.
- Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret design plans and blueprints.
- Skilled in measuring, cutting, and assembling furniture with accuracy.
- Experience with various finishing techniques (staining, painting, sealing).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and workplace best practices.
- Basic tools required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with custom furniture making or high-end woodworking.
- Knowledge of CNC machines or advanced woodworking tools.
- Upholstery or metalworking skills are a plus.
