SUMMARY
The Delivery Driver Trainee is a full-time hourly position serving as a steppingstone into a Relief and then Driver position. Once a Trainee has met the requirements, they will attend CDL-A courses as needed to acquire a CDL driving permit and CDL-A license. Caffey Distributing will cover the cost of obtaining a CDL-A License backed by a 2-year promissory note of employment. The primary purpose of the Delivery Driver Trainee is to deliver merchandise, and service accounts in the assigned route, while maintaining the quality of our products and promoting a safe work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Complete CDL course to learn how to operate a CDL-A vehicle safely
• Is familiar with and certified to use all types of delivery equipment, including pallet jacks, docks and dock-levelers, trucks and trailers per Caffey Distributing / Carolina Premium Beverage and OSHA standards.
• Learn how to professionally deliver stops in all areas and departments to ensure flexibility.
• Learn how to prepare invoices, collect payments from customers and record transactions on customer receipt.
• Listen to and resolve service complaints.
• Represent Caffey Distributing Company/Carolina Premium Beverage in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain a friendly, working relationship with the Manager on each account on all routes in assigned area
• Confer with Area Delivery Managers to resolve customer problems, opportunities, competitive activity in your market, and potential overage situations
• Check in product with Store Manager, following store policy.
• Restock cold boxes, displays, shelves and other areas where products are available for sale.
• Responsible for keeping back stock, cold box and displays rotated and in a clean and organized manner
• Adhere to company account and merchandising standards in all accounts.
• Responsible for adhering to Overage Beer Policy
• Maintain safe driving record and comply with company driving policy.
• Attending all scheduled meetings and company functions as required.
• Adhere to dress code, including safety non-negotiables,” and be properly always groomed
• Obey all federal, state, and local laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Requires common intelligence, such as the ability to use simple gauges or instruments that require no interpretation. Must follow oral instructions and occasionally use simple writing or arithmetic skills. High School diploma or GED is not required. No experience required.
INITIATIVE AND INGENUITY
Requires the use of little judgment to follow instructions, using simple equipment in performing duties where the employee is told what to do and has little or no choice as to the procedures used for achieving results.

Occasional mental or visual attention since either the operation is practically automatic or the duties require attention only at long intervals.

Limited makes minor adjustments to equipment; however, equipment is not “sensitive," and damages are unlikely under normal use and care.
