Title: Duct Assembler Level II
SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare sheet metal products for the HVAC industry. The individual must have adequate knowledge of cutting and joining metals and other materials. They will assist in operating appropriate equipment to fabricate mechanical structures or parts with precision. Competency in using potentially dangerous equipment while following all safety precautions is required. Each task must be performed with a focus on safety, quality, and accuracy in a timely manner.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Inspect parts for accuracy.
- Prepare products for fabrication by shearing, bending, rolling, punching, grinding, drilling, tapping, cutting, and screwing.
- Change out all consumables as needed.
- Properly pack, identify, and move all unfinished and finished products to the appropriate location.
- Ensure all equipment and products are set up and used safely, with all safety devices in place.
- Perform first-piece inspections, as well as all subsequent inspections, as required.
- Conduct simple maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Accurately enter time and attendance records.
- Adhere to all safety and quality practices and principles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices related to HVAC duct fabrication.
- Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions in the HVAC duct fabrication trade.
- Familiarity with SMACNA Duct Construction Standards.
- Ability to work effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and helpers.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
- Proficiency in using and maintaining tools and equipment related to the job.
