Position Overview:
Cairn University’s Softball Team is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced individual to join the softball coaching staff as an Assistant Coach with a focus on pitching. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Coach to develop the pitching staff, assist with training sessions, and support the team throughout the season.
This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in pitching mechanics, strategy, and training, with the ability to work with athletes of various skill levels. Additionally, the candidate should be available to travel with the team for the Spring Break trip.
Responsibilities:
- Provide pitching instruction during practice sessions, focusing on mechanics, strategy, and conditioning.
- Assist with game preparation, including pre-game pitching strategies and in-game adjustments.
- Mentor and motivate pitchers, providing individualized feedback and development plans.
- Support the overall coaching staff in practice planning, drills, and team strategy.
- Attend team events, meetings, and games as needed, including the Spring Break trip.
- Assist with recruiting efforts for the softball program.
- Help maintain a positive and competitive team culture, rooted in faith-based values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, with a strong background in softball, particularly in pitching.
- Previous coaching experience, particularly with pitchers, at the high school, collegiate, or club level.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide student-athletes.
- Knowledge of NCAA Division III regulations and commitment to the mission and values of Cairn University.
- Ability to travel with the team for the Spring Break trip (dates to be announced).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Collegiate softball playing experience as a pitcher.
- Certification in pitching mechanics or other relevant coaching credentials.
- Experience with video analysis tools and technology to enhance pitching development.
